Will I feel ready to teach yoga after this program?
Everyone feels a little differently about this. Some feel really ready and set classes up immediately and start teaching, some students find that their eyes have just opened up and they feel like all they want to do is study more and not actually be a teacher of yoga.
I always lean into saying, you get out what you put in and sometimes what you think you are looking for is not what you end up finding. It is a beautiful process.
What should I do to prepare for the course?
If you don't already have a steady yoga practice, I would recommend you get steady with it and start practicing a minimum of 3 times a week. This will help you to better understand how your body transforms, names of postures, how a class typically flows, lighting, wording, etc. Start reading the above recommended books. I would also suggest that you start to journal on a daily basis - about anything from your day - just start to write and see what happens. Writing is a beautiful practice to really download the day and be able to physically see where your mental-emotional state is at on a day to day basis.
WHAT ARE THE TIMES OF THE TRAINING?
Times. Friday 5pm - 9pm, Saturday 9am - 6:30pm, Sunday 9am - 6:30pm
Will i be certified to teach yoga after this training?
If you complete the entire course and meet all of the required hours, pay your tuition in full, and show through a practicum and final exam that you are capable of safely guiding bodies through an asana practice, then yes!
What are the recommended readings for this course?
I recommend you pick up a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, I like Eknath Easwaran's or Micheal Stone's version; as well as, a copy of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, I find the edition by Satichananda to be easy to understand and straight forward. It is not to say that everyone should read these books with great ease - for some it is a big struggle at first to understand the languaging or perhaps it is not their time to receive these teachings yet; however, I find it helpful to start inviting in a new language, a new way of learning and I think that once you open a book, it starts to teach you.
How many years of experience do I need to take this training?
First of all, the more you know before you enter, the better mental and physical foundation you have for the information provided to land. The less you know about the foundation of something, the less places the information has to land.
Secondly, it is not about your physical abilities as much as it is about your desire to become aware and change old patterns. If you can do a headstand, great; if you can not, great.
That being said, I believe that if you hear the call to do a Yoga training, then you are ready. If you are willing to be open-minded, to listen on a deep level, and to change, then you are ready for Yoga. To me, your ability to listen and adjust is the highest skill you can bring.
is this a yoga alliance certified teacher training?
Yes, this is a 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified training.
Yoga Alliance is the hub in which after 200 hours of certified yoga training, graduates can go and become globally recognized as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT).
Do I have to want to become a yoga teacher to take this training?
Absolutely not. Yoga is not about teaching, Yoga is about living. I believe that all humans would benefit greatly from this work. I call it life training more than I do yoga training as Yoga is an on and OFF the mat practice. The philosophy conversations, the intimate learning about how to pay minute attention to how you are moving and feeling within your body will teach you so much about life itself and about yourself and how you navigate this precious life you were given. This training is about dharma, how to walk your unique path fiercely, humbly, and in an integrated manor so that the whole becomes taken care of - your Self and those surrounding.
If you love yoga and you want to learn more about yoga, this training is for you.
