INTRO TO YOGA: A 6 WEEK CLASS SERIES

This will be a workshop style 1 hour class for 6 consecutive weeks. In a typical public class it is expected that the students are silent through the whole class. This will be an interactive opportunity for students to ask questions as we move through foundational yoga poses, breath techniques, and simple meditations.

Who is this for?

  • People who are completely new to yoga and feel unsure about going to a large public class.

  • People who have done yoga before, but it’s been a while since they have stepped on their mat and would like some guidance to remind them of the basics.

  • Any experienced practitioner who wants to slow down and get back to the basics.

What to expect to learn?

  • Each week we will start off some discussion about what the trajectory of the class will be

  • After discussion, we will start off with mediation and breath work so you can get in your body.

  • We will start with learning the most foundational or common yoga poses and every consecutive week we will build on the poses from the week before. I will give you modifications for common injuries poses that are taught in a typical class and any other specific modifications for students in this class.

Our intention is for you to feel connected to your body and breath, be comfortable moving through a public yoga class on your own, with a handful of modifications known that may not be given in a regular class. Or be able to practise yoga safely in the comfort of your own home!

What you will need for this class:

  • 2 x 3 or 4 inch foam or cork yoga blocks

  • 1 throw blanket

  • 1 yoga strap or long scarf or belt
