Lead Facilitator

Brendan Smullen

Brendan found yoga while coping with anxiety at an early age. Generally practicing Hatha, he kept a consistent practice and began to develop a curiosity for new postures and transitions.

Brendan started learning the craft of Ashtanga yoga while in Washington DC under the guidance of Maryl Baldridge and later David Robson and Jelena Vesic. Brendan practices Ashtanga as a means of stress management, lifestyle change, introspection and devotion. Brendan is a 500hr RYT and Certified Education Provider through Yoga Alliance and is a learner for life. He has trained with several notable Ashtangis including Kino McGregor, Tim Feldman, David Swenson, Ty Landrum, David Garrigues and Troy Lucero.

Assisting Teachers

Melissa Boyko

She is happy to be invited to this training to share the passion and history of this practice.

Blazenka Pocjrna

Blaze first started practicing yoga in 2012. It was not long after that she stepped into her first Rocket Yoga class at Yogalife. She loves the way Rocket Yoga provides playful and intelligent sequencing to develop strength and flexibility.
Blaze completed two 200hr yoga teacher trainings in 2017 and 2019. She has been part of a local yoga community, Rocket Yoga YEG, since 2018. Blaze currently has over 200 hours of Rocket training and in both level 1 and level 2 Rocket/Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa with her teacher David C. Kyle.
Blaze is always looking to expand her knowledge and share what she learns with other practitioners to help grow the practice and the community.

What People Are Saying

"I felt seen and supported throughout the training. The small group made for an intimate and close-knit feel. I felt safe to try new things and possibly fail, knowing that Brendan and Christiane would be there to help me grow in both my practice and my teaching." "The training is tailored to what trainees do and don’t already know, so that everyone gets something valuable out of it. The workshops are structured wisely with plenty of time to work on attendees’ personal projects as well as moves and adjusts that everyone will benefit from. All of the hands-on assists presented in the assists clinic felt immediately applicable in a teaching practice."

"A big differentiator of this YTT is that there is a path beyond the program. Whether you're into deepening your own practice or teaching others, there is a dedicated space and a supportive community to continue applying what you learned. It's is not like one and done kind of YTT, but more like a kickstarter of a life long journey ✨ I definitely upped awareness of my own tendencies in practice by learning to teach others. And I am still learning and teaching to this day!"

"I had some huge takeaways. From a practice perspective, I felt as though my personal practice grew both physically in the actual asanas but also internally through poignant pointers B&C gave in their instruction. I love the value alignment - how yoga can be a vehicle for creating a ripple effect to allow people to show up with more love, presence, and compassion. From a teaching perspective, I learned so much, including the history of Rocket, great tools for adjustments and how to use language for consent, and ways to modify poses. Some other key learnings were around deeper values, like developing my authentic voice, teaching for studios and owners who are values aligned, how to frame and position myself as a yoga teacher."
